L to R: Supervisor Mark Lesko, Legislator Kate Browning, Dr. Carol Carter, Geron Holmes,
Deputy Supervisor Kathleen Walsh, Assemblyman Steve Englebright
Sunshine and the Town of Brookhaven are now embarking on an exciting collaborative project to renovate a steel modular structure (NYC MTA building) that was donated to us and connect it to our existing structure.  This is the first time that the Town of Brookhaven is involved in a collaborative project of this level. Several officials have been working for almost a year to get this project together, including NYS Assemblyman Steve Englebright, Deputy Town Supervisor Kathleen Walsh, Town Council Member Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld, Town of Brookhaven Commissioner Ed Morris and Deputy Parks Commissioner Carol Bissonette. This project will be a collaborative effort with the Town of Brookhaven, all levels of government, businesses, trade unions, schools, families, and communities working together toward the same goal.  Frances Campani of Campani and Schwarting Architects has worked hard to provide us with the architectural drawings for the project. Other commitments have come in from Roanoke Sand and Gravel, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, Carpenter’s Union, District Council #9 Painter and Allied Trades, Trailer Transport, Savik and Murray, H2M, and many more expected.

With schools and youth programs the first to feel the effects of reduced budgets, we don’t want our youth to suffer or become victims of this economic downfall. We need your help to make this project come to life! We have tried to think outside the box and have divided this endeavor into different projects and phases. We need assistance - from supplies to support for fund-raising efforts, from demolition to renovations of the existing building and the modular.
